Helchteren town hall

Kazernelaan, Helchteren

The old Helchteren town hall is a 19th century twin house made of brick and natural stone. The building is made out of two construction layers and three bays (meaning) under a gable roof.

Left across the door there hangs a commemorative plaque dedicated to Jan Wouters, a national council member of the Belgian Cycling Federation.

In front of the town hall stands an amazing lime tree beneath which stands the old 'speakers’ stone', on which the town crier used to bring his news to the people.
