These nature reserves are located in the Wijers, a region full of ponds, stream valleys and natural history elements. The large pond with a length of 700 m was originally intended as part of the Albert Canal but was never used in this sense. The location of the coal mine will then allow cooling water to be pumped up. The corresponding buildings are still there.
